About the Episcopal Church
The Episcopal church offers the best of both worlds of Christian faiths - protestant and catholic.
It is the oldest church in North Carolina, descended from the Church of England and established here by the early English Colonists.
The Episcopal Church is a blend of protestant reform and catholic tradition. We worship using the Book of Common Prayer, which is closely related to Roman Catholic worship. While we do have bishops, we do not have a Pope. We have priests that can be male or female and who are permitted to marry.
We pride ourselves on allowing a diversity of opinions in our church. Our worship and belief rest on the three foundations of scripture, tradition and reason.
